Apple Sandwiches in NY

I went to the big city this weekend for the first time. A lot of standing up on subways, walking fast, the tallest buildings, good-looking dogs and people, jill making a mean sandwich, teshia talking about her views on coffee, window displays of carboard art and dresses, colors of yarn and m&ms. Each street is numbered in sequential order-its simple, but wonderful for someone who has no sense of direction. This trip seemed to be situated at the perfect interval of school and art and experiences for me. I've been real jazzed since school started back up. I keep getting this feeling of what I can describe as lucky- to be surrounded by intelligent people, both peers and professors, who constantly and ferociously learn, teach, and create. But I've also been worried that I've become complacent, content to read from books, and learn in classrooms. New York served to be an experience of walls lined with real-live Matisse paintings, people-filled streets lined with leftover Christmas trees, urban planning at its finest on the Highline, and homeless men finding their beds on subways.

Jill took Teshia and I to this huge bookstore called The Strand. I bought two one-year-old Sotheby's auction catalogs for two bucks. They are so great. Its like having super nice art books.
I'm posting some pictures of things we saw along the way- a culmination of 2 days covering downtown, Manhattan, central park, midtown, grand central station.
